How long, not how fast
We love “fast”.
Fast fat loss.
Fast strength gains.
Fast health improvements.
Fast, however, is often at odds with sustainable.
Our sense of urgency to look and feel awesome often leads to habits and strategies we won’t maintain for the long run.
Habits and strategies we won’t maintain lead to results we won’t maintain.
Rather than “how fast can I get there?”, consider asking “how long can I do this?”
“How long can I do this?”
“How long can I keep this up?”
“How long can this approach be a part of my life?”
This is where “diet” and “exercise” so often fall short.
They’re seen as short-term strategies to achieve a certain result.
We see them as finite processes that produce infinite results.
That’s not the case.
Whatever we do to look and feel a certain way is what we have to keep doing to look and feel that certain way.
Fast has its place.
Fast isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
Sometimes we make a change that’s perfectly sustainable and we see fast results.
That’s totally cool.
I’m not saying to avoid “fast”.
I’m suggesting that it not be your driving factor.
You’re in this for the long run.
You’re in this not only for yourself now, but for yourself in the future.
You are worthy of healthy, sustainable change.
You are worthy of long-term results.
You are worthy of the best life.
You’re going to do great.
You’ve got this.
