Yet
What may seem like simply “words” can actually serve as the operating system through which we interact with the world.
The lens we shape with our words and thoughts constrain what we do.
What we achieve.
What we believe.
What we think.
What we expect.
Of the world and of ourselves.
Sometimes the most subtle change in how we communicate can have significant effect on our lives.
Simple statements that weigh us down.
The way we describe what we see.
Even when objectively true, how we frame our observations can be problematic.
“I don’t know how…”
One word transforms such statements from limiting to empowering.
“I can’t…yet.”
“I’m not…yet.”
“I don’t know how…yet.”
Acknowledge your limitations.
But embrace your capacity to learn, grow, and become more.
This is not a call for delusion.
Or a recommendation to turn a blind eye to one’s circumstances.
Quite the contrary.
This is a call to look at your limitations head-on.
To see them for what they are.
But then to say “I can change”.
To say, “I am capable of more”.
Sure, you might not succeed.
You might never develop the skill.
You might never learn the knowledge.
You might never become what you’d hoped.
But you can put in the work.
You can progress.
You can be more.
You can pursue.
After all, that’s all we can ever really do.
Any outcome is the result of factors infinitely more numerous than simply our efforts.
But we still have our efforts.
What are you telling yourself you can’t do?
What are you telling yourself you don’t know?
What are you telling yourself you’re not?
There’s nothing wrong with seeing things for how they are.
But they don’t have to stay that way.
You’ve got this.
